Michael Wolcot Obituary, Riverside Accident Death: In Loving Memory
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Wolcott, a 35-year-old Riverside resident, following a tragic motor vehicle crash on Wednesday, April 22. Michael was involved in a collision on NW Mattox Road, just north of NW 43rd Street, at approximately 9 a.m. when his 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle collided with a commercial truck.
According to the preliminary investigation by the Platte County Sheriff’s Office, Michael was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when he attempted to pass the vehicle operated by Robert McCormick, a 33-year-old resident of Lucas, Iowa, who was making a left turn into a local business. The motorcycle struck the brush guard of the truck and continued off the roadway, colliding with a utility pole. Despite immediate medical attention, Michael was transported to a nearby hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Michael’s loss is deeply mourned by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He will be remembered for his spirit, his love for life, and his dedication to those he cared for. The circumstances surrounding the accident are still under investigation, and the Platte County Sheriff’s Office is working to fully reconstruct the incident to determine all contributing factors.
