Isaac Helmstetler, Obituary, Las Cruces Motorcycle Crash Death: In Loving Memory

The community is mourning the death of 28-year-old Isaac Helmstetler, who was killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a car at the intersection of Valley Drive and Rigsby Road.

According to the Las Cruces Police Department, the crash occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. on April 22, 2026, in a heavily traveled corridor of the city. Emergency responders arrived within minutes and found Helmstetler in critical condition. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso, where he later died despite lifesaving efforts by trauma medical staff.

Authorities say the exact sequence of events remains under investigation. Detectives with the Las Cruces Police Department’s Traffic Unit are reconstructing the crash, reviewing witness statements, and examining physical and digital evidence to determine how the collision occurred. No citations or arrests have been announced, and officials have not yet determined which driver had the right-of-way.
