Petra Cevallos, Olivehurst Woman Arrested After DUI Crash Into Yuba City Building, Tried to Flee on Foot
YUBA CITY, Calif. – A 27-year-old Olivehurst woman was arrested early Wednesday morning after crashing her vehicle into a building near the intersection of B Street and Clark Avenue, according to the Yuba City Police Department.
Officers responded to reports of a collision involving a structure shortly after the incident occurred. Upon arrival, they discovered significant damage to the building and an abandoned vehicle. Authorities say the driver had fled the scene on foot before police arrived.
With assistance from the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office, officers located and identified the suspect as Petra Cevallos. She was taken into custody a short time later.
Law enforcement officials reported that Cevallos showed signs of intoxication during an on-site evaluation. She was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). Additional charges related to leaving the scene of a collision may also be considered as the investigation continues.
No injuries were reported in the crash, and no other vehicles were involved. The building sustained damage, though officials have not yet released details regarding the extent or type of structure impacted.
Cevallos was booked into the Sutter County Jail and is expected to appear in court at a later date. Authorities have not released further information regarding potential bail or prior driving history.
The Yuba City Police Department reiterated concerns about impaired driving, urging motorists to make responsible transportation choices and avoid getting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
