George Jedrey, Betty Jedrey And Son Obituary, Mecosta County, MI Murder-Suicide Death: Family of Three Found Dead in Suspected Murder-Suicide
The Stanwood community is in deep sorrow following the tragic deaths of George Jedrey, 79, his wife Betty Jedrey, 85, and their son, Thomas Pinard, 64. The family was discovered dead during a welfare check on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in what investigators suspect to be a devastating case of murder-suicide.
Mecosta County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the Jedrey home around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday after a request for a well-being check. Upon arrival, a deputy noticed a deceased individual through a window and immediately forced entry into the home. Inside, authorities found the bodies of George, Betty, and Thomas, each of whom had tragically passed. Investigators found no signs of forced entry, tampering, or external damage to the property, and all vehicles belonging to the residents were present.
Based on initial findings, authorities believe the deaths resulted from gunshot wounds, with a suspected murder-suicide being the leading theory. At this time, no external suspects are being sought, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities continue to search for answers and a clearer understanding of what led to this heartbreaking event.
The deaths of George, Betty, and Thomas have left the community in shock. Those who knew the Jedreys remember them as a close-knit family, and their sudden passing has left a void that will be deeply felt by friends, neighbors, and loved ones.
The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate, and as the community reels from this tragedy, all are left to reflect on the lives of three individuals who were loved and will be sorely missed. May their memory live on in the hearts of those who knew them, and may their loved ones find comfort during this incredibly difficult time.
